This summer sees the arrival of a ginger peach saison in tallboy format. Personal note: That might be the first time that sentence has ever been written. With the onset of June, Tallgrass Brewing Co. is introducing its Ginger Peach Saison, the second new release of 2015 to come out of its newly minted 60,000-square-foot brewery nestled in the Flint Hills of Kansas.
Sessionable and refreshing with a strong balance of its namesake flavors, Ginger Peach Saison is effervescent, tart and fruity, has a light body and dry finish. In the Tallgrass tradition, it will be available in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans. When it comes to the saison’s flavor profile, Tallgrass brewmaster Brandon Hoag said it’s all about how the yeast complements the ginger and peach elements.
“We tried several different strains of yeast before arriving at a Belgian strain used in the final recipe,” Hoag said. “A lot of the flavor comes from the yeast, but it’s the way it interacts with the ginger and peach that makes it slam on the taste buds.”
“We’re calling this the opening riff in our saison medley, as we plan to release an annually rotating saison that uses this wonderful beer as a base to experiment with different fruit and spice flavors,” said Tallgrass Founder and CEO Jeff Gill.
Ginger Peach Saison has already hit the shelves. It is the second summer seasonal from Tallgrass, following the release of Halcyon Unfiltered Wheat in March.
