Good People Brewing Co., one of the oldest and largest craft breweries in the state of Alabama, modernized its operations a bit with new can labeling equipment last month. The sleek new look provided by the labeler can be found on cans of Urban Farmer, a traditional farmhouse ale, released in September. Good People Brewing partnered with Pack Leader USA for the labeling machine and Resource Label Group for the printed labels.
The flexibility and ease of labeling their cans and 22 oz. bottles is going to dramatically improve what they do, allowing the brewery to package and release more seasonal, specialty and limited batches into the marketplace, resulting in a larger variety of styles available to customers.
“Prior to getting this labeler, we used cans with the images actually printed on them (Pale Ale, Brown Ale, IPA, etc.),” noted Lauren McCurdy, marker for Good People Brewing Co. “This style of printing forced us to have a minimum order for each style of can printed and have enough space to store all of those cans. With this new labeler, we have the ability to house blank cans and create and use labels for smaller batches and seasonal offerings.”
Good People Brewing Co. has always been a proponent of canned beer due to cans offering strong protection against environmental factors threatening to spoil beer and maintaining the quality and integrity of the brew inside. Since the brewery maintains a full-time quality control lab facility and staff, quality product is the main priority of the Good People staff. The can labeler will enable Good People Brewing to showcase product diversity without having to compromise packaging quality.
