The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) added a new resource for brewers waiting for TTB application approval. The new Processing Times for Beverage Alcohol Formulas page includes an up-to-date formula processing time chart for both those that require sample analysis and those that do not. Brewers can use the chart, updated daily, to estimate when their formula application is likely to be processed.
As of Nov. 3, the chart on the site showed the organization was processing new applications where either the formula or sample was received on Sept. 10. The average processing time, in calendar days, was 56 for malt beverages, and 57 for those that require sample analysis. So, that lists the average number of days it takes to process an application, from the time it is received until it is either approved or rejected. This includes the time it takes to analyze samples if required, and any time spent sending electronic applications back and forth for correction.
“Our goal is to give you quick, online access to an up-to-date estimate of the average number of days we are taking to process applications, so you can better manage your internal processes and plans to get your product into the marketplace,” the TTB said.
