In the evolving landscape of the beer options, the emergence of gluten-free craft beer has opened new doors for breweries, bars and restaurants, serving beer to a previously untapped customer base. The rise of gluten-free craft beer can be traced back to increasing awareness of celiac disease, gluten intolerance and gluten sensitivity among consumers. Today, beer lovers can find a nice variety of great gluten-free craft beer options, and although these are usually served in a bottle or can, draft gluten-free craft beer is a thing. Let me point you to the video above.
Like any niche market product, finding space on a busy tap rotation can be difficult for gluten-free beer, which is why I found this video from Golden, Colorado’s Holidaily Brewing Co. interesting. Watch above as (I think) Holidaily Brewing staffers give good advice on getting their gluten-free beer on draft at accounts.
Here’s a tip: If the restaurant’s menu already has gluten-free options (even a gluten-free bun), that’s an open door to discussing gluten-free beer options on draft. Another piece of insider advice: Look for bars and bistros that have at least 10 draft taps, which allows space for a gluten-free option. Also, changing a keg to tap gluten-free beer does require a little more vigilance than a normal beer, as discussed in the video above. Before hooking up a gluten-free keg, the lines must be cleaned to ensure any regular beer with gluten is thoroughly removed. Learn more in the great training video above, and then check out Holidaily Brewing’s options.
