Congrats to Wicked Weed Brewing for continuing to be the winner you don’t particularly like. Not only has the Asheville-based brewing company won the lottery by joining the AB InBev armada, but now it’s also taking home another award — the Glass Packaging Institute‘s (GPI) Clear Choice Award in the Beer and Cider Category for its unique glass bottle manufactured by Ardagh Group.
Beginning at the neck of the bottle, an embossed hop plant brings the design to a clean finish, and the amber glass preserves the mouth-watering taste of cucumber with a hint of juniper berries in this golden ale. In a mix of brisk basil and freshly grown cucumbers, Coolcumber set out to replicate summer in a bottle.
Wicked Weed Brewing’s “bottle and branding are a tactile extravaganza. The hop texture on the bottle and sophisticated label tells the brand story well,” were a few of the judges notes.
The winning glass containers were selected by an independent panel of food and beverage packaging professionals:
- Tom Bobak, Founder & Editor-in-Chief, American Craft Beer;
- Peter Chamberlain, Associate Director, Myron E. Ullman Jr. School of Design, University of Cincinnati;
- Geoff Kleinman, Editor, DrinkSpirits.com; and
- Denise Purcell, Head of Content for the Specialty Food Association.

Sold out! met a couple of people that worked at WW. They were passionate about their craft. Can’t possibly be as passionate when the craft disappears. Sell outs, lotta losers there ????
Jon Untiedt says
Oh, and who gives a rats ass about the bottle? The magic comes from “the craft” inside!

Won the lottery? So you’re saying you’re in support of them being bought by ABinBev?
John Wanner says
Pretty sure Craft Brewing Business is being sarcastic here. They are clearly anti AB-InBev.
Mark L. Curtis says
Yeah, I would hope, but the tone of the post doesn’t exactly come off that way. I mean, why would you even post about them anymore.
