We will continue to find and distribute educational portals to our readers who probably have more computer time than normal. I noticed the other day Cleveland’s heritage craft brand Great Lakes Brewing Co. released one of its Hop College programs online for public consumption. In the video above, host Adam Ritterspach interviews GLBC Education Coordinator and certified Cicerone Michael Williams about Great Lakes’ famed Dortmunder Gold Lager brand. I reached out to Marissa DeSantis, brand marketing manager at GLBC, to get the scoop:
“The current restrictions we and so many other businesses are facing have pushed us to think of creative ways to bring the Great Lakes experience to our customers,” said DeSantis. “Our takeout and delivery business has enabled us to continue serving folks in Cleveland, and we’re so thankful for the support from our community, but beyond that we also wanted to provide some fun content to connect and entertain people at home.
“Our public Hop College program is one of the main ways we bring beer education and an elevated tasting experience to our customers, so we thought we’d create a bite-sized version of one of those programs that could be easily accessed from home. Because we just launched our flagship Dortmunder Gold Lager in cans, it made for a perfect Hop College at Home 101 course. A little history, a little style education and some fun stories accompany a guided tasting of one of our most iconic beers.”
Couldn’t agree more. Watch and listen to Adam and Michael above. They’re an entertaining duo.
