The craft beer Game of Thrones continues with Schlafly plucking an industry vet off the market, James Pendegraft, and planting him as the company’s new CEO. Pendegraft was president of Labatt USA from 2003-’09 and director of category management at InBev from 2003-’06. The last few years he worked as VP of sales and marketing at North American Breweries.
No, former Schlafly CEO Dan Kopman won’t be going anywhere though as he is moving up to become co-chairman of the brewery’s parent company, the St. Louis Brewery. As co-chairman, Kopman hopes to focus more on product sourcing.
Schlafly has more big moves up its sleeve as well, as it looks for a good spot to build its third production facility.
Schlafly now moves beer in 14 states and Washington, D.C., producing about 60,000 bbls in 2014, up from more than 56,000 barrels in 2013.
