These days, freedom and a commitment to democratic ideals are worth taking a minute to note and celebrate. WorldBlu, a company specializing in freedom-centered, democratic organizational design and leadership, named New Belgium Brewing to its 12th annual WorldBlu List of Most Freedom-Centered Workplaces. The 2018 list, which is published every year on “Freedom at Work Day,” certified just 20 organizations around the world.
“Through our open-book management and 100 percent employee-owned culture,we strive to create an environment where respect, integrity, having fun and accountability are all key elements of our success,” said Steve Fechheimer, CEO of New Belgium. “We’re incredibly honored to receive this designation for the 10th time and to have our workplace culture once again independently recognized for how special that it is.”
The standards to be recognized on the WorldBlu List of Most Freedom-Centered Workplaces are high and required New Belgium employees to complete a rigorous assessment and a series of coworker surveys that evaluated the practice of organizational democracy at an individual, leadership and systems and processes level.
Organizations from across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, Israel, Netherlands, Malaysia, Haiti, New Zealand and Romania made this year’s WorldBlu List. Industries represented include technology, automotive, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, sports, education and professional services. Organizations from all sectors that have been in operation for at least one year with 10 or more employees and $1 million in annual revenue are considered for inclusion on this list.
