Who doesn’t want to work for a Hawaiian based brewery? We’re definitely still waiting for our call to the islands, and we’re a little jealous Peter Scheider got the call first from the craft pioneers at Maui Brewing Co. (MBC), joining MBC as its national sales manager.
Scheider’s résumé starts from humble beginnings as the draft technician for the Odell Brewing Co. in 2004, but he quickly moved on to run the off-premise sales route for Fort Collins, Colo. After a year of off-premise work, he was moved to Western Slope Territory manager where he represented Odell Brewing in Boulder as well as several other mountain towns including Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, Copper Mountain and Winter Park.
Now Scheider will bring his variety of craft beer expertise to the MBC crew, based in Maui, Hawaii. As one of the largest Hawaiian breweries, MCB currently has one brewery in Lahaina, and one brewpub in Kahana that creates more than 40 different styles on a rotating basis. In 2005, Maui Brewing Co. produced 400 barrels (bbls) from the single brewpub and expanded into an additional brewery location in 2007, producing nearly 20,000 bbls in 2012. MBC is currently in construction to move that production to a state-of-the-art brewery in Kihei. This will help meet current demand and provide the ability to open additional markets, which is where we figure Scheider fits in.
