Lawson’s Finest Liquids, the award-winning Vermont craft brewery, released a deliciously smooth Nitro Stout in time for the winter holiday season. Lawson’s Finest Liquids’ Nitro Stout (5.4% ABV) is an Irish-style Dry Stout at its creamiest, smoothest and finest. After years of being a fan-favorite draft release in the taproom, this luxuriously creamy brew is now available in 4-packs of 16 oz. nitro cans everywhere that Lawson’s Finest Liquids is sold.
Why nitro? Nitrogenated beer results in small, dense, lively little bubbles that lend a rich, dense head and luxurious mouthfeel. Nitro enhances the drinking experience, turning an already-delicious, roasty stout into a full-on sensory delight.
Founder Sean Lawson has long had a dream of adding a velvety nitro stout in a can to the Lawson’s Finest lineup. The first iteration of Lawson’s Finest Liquids Nitro Stout was brewed and poured as a taproom-only offering called McPeake’s. It was named for Sean’s Irish grandmother, Isobel McPeake (a.k.a. Mama Bell McPeake), who emigrated to the United States at 16 years old in the early 1900s.
Upon release, Mama Bell’s namesake beer was an instant hit, and it became a taproom draft staple. Sean knew he wanted another way to get the beer “straight from the Green Mountains to your head,” so the team started working on getting the beer into nitro cans.
“Our name is our promise, and we were determined to bring this unique beer experience to cans in the finest way possible to maintain the quality and flavors of a brewery-fresh experience in every can,” said Lawson.
To package Nitro Stout, Lawson’s Finest doses the beer with liquid nitrogen directly into the can versus using a widget. Because it’s less soluble in liquid than typical CO2, nitro doesn’t dissolve in the same way, but incorporates into the beer for an extremely creamy mouthfeel and a mesmerizing cascade of tiny bubbles when poured.
Speaking of pouring, when preparing to enjoy Lawson’s Finest Liquids Nitro Stout, beer lovers are encouraged to shake the can gently before turning it upside down in a vigorous pour that will activate the gorgeous spectacle of nitro bubbles. Let the full, dense head of foam settle for just a beat before giving yourself a nitro stache and a mouthful of mighty fine, nitro-infused liquid.
SweetWater Brewing offers you Half-A-Gummie
SweetWater Brewing Co. keeps the great weed puns (and IPAs) coming with Half-A-Gummie’ IPA. This new line of India Pale Ales, bursting with fruit-forward flavors, is a twist on SweetWater Gummies Double IPA – which launched earlier this year, now reimagined with a more session-friendly alcohol content.
The SweetWater Gummies series launched as a testament to the brewery’s commitment to flavor-forward and high-ABV ales, setting a new benchmark in the Double IPA category. These ales, notably the Tropical IIPA and Fruit Punch IIPA with a potent 9.5% ABV, captured the essence of summer with their haze, juiciness, and bold, fruity flavors.
‘Half-A-Gummie’ retains the essence of the Gummies series—its captivating fruit flavors and aromatic appeal—while presenting a lower alcohol-by-volume content as an alternative option for consumers; The launch series of Half-A-Gummie includes the same two great varieties from the original series: Tropical IPA, and Fruit Punch IPA, each boasting a 5.5% alcohol-by-volume. These new brews are a masterful blend of fruit explosions, featuring the luscious flavors of strawberry, pineapple, orange, and cherry, culminating in a uniquely smooth, incredibly flavorful, and drinkable IPA experience.

Pure Project goes Home for the Holihaze and wet hops a barrel-aged saison
San Diego’s Pure Project released its annual murky double IPA (8.8% ABV) collaboration with Burgeon Beer Co., perfectly named Home for the Holihaze. This year’s version of this festive brew features a bouquet of their favorite hops of 2023: Superdelic and Nectaron from New Zealand, and Citra Cryo from Washington. Aromas of zesty lime, lychee, and raspberry hard candy grace the nose while flavors of passion fruit, peach, and freshly squeezed orange juice dance upon the palate.
Pure Project also has an awesome Oak Barrel-Aged Saison with Cascade Wet Hops out now too:
“Our 2023 wet hop beer, Infinite Falls, was designed to preserve the ephemeral quality of fresh hops as time passes. This extraordinary barrel-aged saison aged for four months in oak barrels before being enriched with 100 pounds of Oregon-grown Cascade wet hops, which were infused into the beer the day prior to bottling. After refermenting in bottles for an additional two months, this highly-effervescent beauty is ready to be enjoyed.”
Its base of California-grown Admiral Pilsner malt and unmalted wheat from Durst Family Farm further set the stage for a remarkable sensory experience. The aroma is a captivating blend of honeydew, white wine, and floral notes, followed by a flavor profile rich in tastes of pomelo, white peach, and oak.
Weldwerks readies next round of Medianoche releases
WeldWerks Brewing announced its next round of Medianoche releases, which includes a collaboration with Trillium Brewing, that are perfect for holiday gatherings. Tickets for both releases, which retail at $25, will go on sale this Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. via Eventbrite (no access code needed, the ticketing purchase page will be viewable the second the sale begins on the 18th), with pickups beginning Nov. 22 – Dec. 10.
Noche PM | WeldWerks and Trillium crafted a blend that incorporates some of the brewery’s time-tested and most beloved adjuncts. The journey began with the selection of Medianoche barrels, which have been meticulously aged for 30-32 months in 16-year Thomas H. Handy Rye barrels and 18-year Sazerac Rye barrels.
“This fusion created notes of burnt caramel, sumptuous vanilla syrup, toasted marshmallows, and a hint of leather,” the brewery tells us. “Drawing inspiration from these exquisite flavor profiles, we chose Papua New Guinea Tahitensis Vanilla Beans which are celebrated for their aromatic richness, offering a bouquet of sweet vanilla notes accentuated by subtle caramel, chocolate, and cherry nuances.”
Furthermore, they paired the vanilla beans with Kahete, a Kenyan coffee bean roasted by Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters. This coffee variety imparts profound flavors of deep brown sugar, velvety caramel, and the refreshing brightness of pomelo. To finish, they added a blend of raw and toasted coconut, which perfectly complements the diverse flavor profiles, resulting in layers of rich, intricate, and captivating flavors.
Hot Cocoa Medianoche | Hot cocoa meets Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. The cozy nostalgia of hot cocoa paired with the smoothness and richness of WeldWerks’ Medianoche aged for 28 months in six-year-old Weller Wheated Bourbon barrels, infused with a generous dose of hot cocoa powder and bounty of delicately toasted marshmallows, delivers the ideal balance of flavor. Hot Cocoa Medianoche leaves you dreaming of carefree days spent sledding with your friends, all without the constraints of being home before dark to dim your enjoyment.
Brooklyn Brewery, Four Roses Distillery debut 2023 Black Ops
Brooklyn Brewery and Four Roses Distillery unveiled the 2023 edition of Brooklyn Black Ops (12% ABV). This exciting collaboration again unites craft beer pioneer Brooklyn Brewery with esteemed bourbon icon, Kentucky-based Four Roses Distillery for this fifth annual release, which is now available throughout the U.S.
This year is particularly poignant, marking the 35th anniversary of Brooklyn Brewery’s flagship beer and the 135th anniversary of Four Roses. To honor the occasion, the Black Ops boasts a refreshed design, inspired by Four Roses’ global brand update, their first in nearly two decades.
A collaboration that began in 2019, the partnership between Brooklyn Brewery and Four Roses continues to flourish, thanks to the camaraderie between Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver, and Four Roses COO Ryan Ashley. The latest Black Ops – a Russian Imperial Stout – matured for 9 months in Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon casks specially-chosen by Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott. This process imparts the beer with a blend of bourbon subtleties and an irresistibly smooth finish.
The 2023 Black Ops edition features a balanced profile of decadent cocoa nib and milk chocolate, highlighted by a vanilla-forward oak presence. This combination creates a richly layered, and truly indulgent tasting experience, made even better by sampling with Four Roses Small Batch. Tasting them side by side illuminates the shared flavor profiles, and how complementary the subtle bourbon influence is within the beer’s complex character. In addition to the bourbon and beer pairing, the 2023 Black Ops goes well with dark chocolate ganache, buttery pastries, strong aged cheese, and also as a Black Ops Float, with vanilla ice cream.
