Shipyard Brewing Co. is growing. Early last year, the company secured bank loans for about $4 million that it’ll be using over two years to double Shipyard’s bottling speed and add a permanent canning line, to address some bottlenecks in its production. The brewery hopes the extra efficiency will aid its launch into more states, more shelves and more customer pints and minds. The 20-year journey of the Shipyard brand first began at its Federal Jack’s Restaurant and Brew Pub in Kennebunk, Maine. In fact, after two decades, Shipyard is still brewing cool small batch beers at Federal Jack’s, downstairs from the pub at the Kennebunkport Brewing Co. This video takes you behind the scenes to see how they brew it at KBC. And goddamn it, it makes us want to grab a Shipyard Blue Fin Stout and a Maine lobster roll and watch the schooners sail by.
