Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc., distributor of America’s best-selling low cab forward trucks, has been awarded zero-emission certifications by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the Isuzu NRR-EV.
CARB and the EPA have been accelerating the adoption of zero-emission vehicles across the United States to combat climate change, reduce air pollution, and promote sustainable transportation solutions nationwide. Their requirements mandate ambitious targets for companies to transition to cleaner, zero-emission technologies. The new Isuzu NRR-EV is now approved for sale in all 50 states. The NRR-EV will be assembled in Charlotte, Michigan starting in August 2024.
The zero-emission certifications validate Isuzu’s adherence to stringent emissions standards and regulatory requirements, demonstrating compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. The new Isuzu NRR-EV is positioned as a viable medium duty truck option for fleets seeking to both reduce their carbon footprint and comply with increasingly strict emissions regulations.
“For us at Isuzu, this truck showcases our commitment to innovation in delivering sustainable transportation solutions for the future. The certifications for our NRR-EV are a major step in providing customers with a medium-duty vehicle that lessens their carbon footprint and meets new fleet regulations,” says Shaun Skinner, President of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America.
The California Air Resources Board is a department of the California Environmental Protection Agency. CARB’s mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through the effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering the effects on the economy of the state.
Isuzu NRR EV with refrigeration
Isuzu announced the development of an all-electric Isuzu NRR EV truck integrated with the Thermo King e300 all-electric transport refrigeration unit (TRU) during the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo (ACT), in Las Vegas.
This truck opens new doors for businesses and Isuzu, says Shaun Skinner, President of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “Our new NRR-EV has been the top conversation for the last couple of years. We knew we had a good solution for dry product delivery, but many of our customers also needed refrigerated delivery. With all of the intricacies of the powertrain and a new approach to refrigeration, this really shows the power of the Isuzu-Thermo King collaboration.”
The Class 5 NRR-EV is Isuzu’s next generation of medium-duty delivery trucks, and the NRR EV is planned for production this summer.
The Isuzu N-Series trucks have long been an industry favorite for their maneuverability and visibility, the two key hallmarks of their low-cab forward design. The NRR-EV has three wheelbase offerings (132.5”, 150”, and 176”) that allows customers to choose between 14 to 20-ft. bodies to utilize the vehicle’s 19,500 GVWR.
