Breweries of all sizes should be thinking about ways to automate their production, not to remove anyone’s job, but to improve consistency and repeatable product quality while maximizing yield and minimizing waste. Emerson is a global automation solutions company that has a ton of state-of-the-art brewing and filling technologies, and we stopped by its booth at the Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville in April to learn a little bit more. Some examples:
DeltaV PK Controllers. These enable the automation of the brewing process with reliable and scalable control across a wide variety of applications, either as a standalone system with full-scale DCS features (batch production, easy redundancy, recipe management, execution, historization) or integrated into existing DeltaV systems.

MicroMotion and Rosemount instrumentation. These improve quality control by automating the measurement of critical process points with hygienic magnetic flow sensors and Coriolis meters for wort flow, degrees-Plato and ingredient additives, and vibrating fork level switches and pressure gauges for accurate filling with real-time insights.
ASCO Numatics fluid automation. These increase operator safety and boost brewery throughput with high-performance valves and actuators designed to allow easy field assembly and enhanced control across bottling platforms.
Keystone valves and actuators. These enhance performance with reliable valve and automation packages which provide accurate process flow control in a compact design while reducing brewery downtime.
In the video above, we learn about the Coriolis flow meter and densitometer.
