Dick Cantwell is a busy man, spreading his eternal coolness throughout the craft industry. Cantwell was a co-founder at Elysian Brewing Co. in 1996, where he served as head brewer until its sale to Anheuser-Busch. Today, he is currently the Brewers Association’s Quality Ambassador, making presentations across the country at state guild conferences and other venues and shows where brewers gather concerning quality control issues. Cantwell also recently released a book — Wood & Beer: A Brewer’s Guide — which he co-authored with New Belgium Brewing Co. brewmaster Peter Bouckaert.
And even more recently, Cantwell decided to brew his first post-Elysian-acquisition beer with his friends at New Belgium’s pilot brewery, collaborating on this year’s version of Ales for ALS, a charity brew that benefits research on ALS (commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). This guy does not slow down. Just watch the video above.
