Craft: The California Beer Documentary is now playing on a screen near you (probably the one you’re looking at right now)

Time for another rendition of Friday Fun! Quick — rattle off the best documentaries you’ve seen! Hoop Dreams, Capturing the Friedmans (difficult but masterful), The Thin Blue Line, Spellbound, to name a few. You can now add Craft: The California Beer Documentary to that rundown. Check out the trailer above. It’s packed with craft beer excitement. Craft Brewing Business caught up with Filmmaker Jeff Smith and asked him about the film’s release. Here’s what he had to say:

“I spent May 2014 interviewing at 80 California breweries, both big and small in every corner of the state, including Stone, Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, etc. The documentary deals with California’s place in America’s beer history, beginning with the country’s first craft brewery, Anchor Steam. It also deals with the environmental concerns of running a brewery where water is tough to come by. It also speaks to why California is the king of craft, among many other topics.”
