That’s the question posed by Bloomberg Business in its “Taking Stock” segment, and Chris Gallant, co-founder of The Bronx Brewery, shares his thoughts. Check it out:
Look, no one is saying *hushed whisper*, “bubble.” In fact, the Brewers Association Economist Bart Watson has gone on the record to say:
There’s plenty of evidence that America can support a ton of new breweries. Germany has 1,300 breweries, with a heck of a lot less people. If the United States had the same number of breweries per capita (our population is over 3.8x bigger), that would mean 5,000 breweries.
On the other hand, you have to wonder, how much higher can craft beer profit graphs go before they start to go down? And it does seem like certain craft players (both big and small) are preparing for a more competitive environment and cramped shelf space.
