The art of beer, like comics, creates communities. Travel to a comic book store anywhere around the world, and you’ll usually find your peers and your people. Same applies to beer fans. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Denver or Dusseldorf, a good beer bar is usually a friendly sanctuary for those who appreciate the art of brewing. That’s the point I’m stealing from Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster Garrett Oliver in the video above. Eloquent as ever, Oliver discusses the brewery’s Defender brand, which is also the official beer of New York Comic Con (October 6-9). Oliver’s talking with illustrator Jamal Igle, who did the raddest artwork yet for the newest Defender. We love the use of a recycled mini keg as a jet pack. Why didn’t we think of that?
From YouTube:
This year, for the first time ever, our explosively juicy West Coast-style red IPA will be standing guard not only around the country, but across the world, ready to slake thirsts and battle blandness all year long.
We feel safer already. Thanks Defender.
