The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG), a nonprofit trade organization for independent craft breweries in the state, announced the return of Colorado Pint Day on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. On Pint Day, beer lovers flock to participating member breweries to purchase limited-edition Colorado Pint Day glassware. The fundraiser, now its 9th year, sends $1 of each pint glass sold to the Colorado Brewers Guild.
“Since we launched the promotion in 2016, this statewide event has reached increased fandom over the years with beer lovers heading to their favorite local craft brewery to collect glassware to add to their collections,” says CBG Communications Manager Carrie Knose Wilson. “Not only is Colorado Pint Day a time-honored tradition but it’s also a big driver of business for local craft breweries during a typically slower season for beer.”
Pint Day is a great way to support local, independent craft beer. 2023 was a record-breaking year for Colorado Pint Day promotion with 215 participating locations selling 29,000 glasses across the state. The event is always held on a Wednesday during the spring which is typically a slower period for breweries. The list of participating breweries for Colorado Pint Day will be announced at a later time.
For the third year in a row, the nonprofit trade association hosted an art competition for Guild member brewery creatives. Rhyan Montgomery, a beertender for Ramblebine Brewing Company out of Grand Junction provided the winning design for this year’s theme: Spring Skiing and Pond Skimming (shown above).
“As a Coloradan, craft beer enthusiast, and artist, winning this contest is a true honor,” says Montgomery. “I have followed Colorado Pint Day for the past few years and collected the glassware, admiring each of the creative designs. Winning this contest was a huge goal of mine that I now regard as one of my highest art related achievements.”
Artist’s Statement:
As snow starts to melt, blue skies emerge and the sun shines, signaling the beginning of springtime in the state of Colorado. However, just because the snow is fading does not mean that the sports so many of us enjoy during the winter have to come to an end. Spring is arguably one of the best times of the year to ski in Colorado. With longer days and higher temperatures, it’s easier to hang out outdoors with friends and family soaking in the sunshine. Clearer skies offer a breathtaking view of the mountain tops. Skiers can take a ride on the gondola and look below to see blue lakes and fellow skiers on the chairlift, while others make their way down the slopes. Swinging by the lodge for a glass of beer is a go-to move after a long day in the spring sun!
Some of the most exciting Coloradan skiing events are held during the spring. Get ready to break out your sunscreen and tote a funny outfit to partake in the tradition of pond skimming. Usually signaling the end of the season, many Colorado skiing areas hold these events to bring people together and celebrate. The goal is to get all the way across the pond on your skis, which proves to be a challenge for many. The energy is vibrant, silly, and light hearted, with many participants wearing costumes during their attempt.
Spring is a wonderful time in Colorado, with pond skimming and skiing being some of the most beloved activities (rightfully so!). This spring, make sure to play outside in the fresh air with your loved ones. Afterwards, to reach a perfect end to a perfect day, enjoy a glass of the delicious beer our state’s breweries have to offer.
