Coachella Valley Brewing Co. (CVB) will celebrate its one year anniversary on Sept. 6. The Palm Springs area brewery has certainly achieved some significant accomplishments in its first 12 months, which seems to be a growing trend among new fellow craft brewers. Some of the highlights include:
- Becoming the first fully dedicated type 23 brewery in the region;
- Securing statewide distribution with Young’s Market Co. of California;
- Receiving a silver medal for Monumentous IPA in its first competition, the Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition;
- Securing over 100 tap handles in the Coachella Valley;
- Featured in over 690 out-of-valley accounts;
- Featured at the world renowned Coachella Music and Arts Festival;
- Selected to pour at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver (Oct. 2-4); and
- Voted the “Best Brewery” in the Coachella Valley (by CV Weekly Magazine).
No bad, guys and gals. Adding to this success, CVB has recently signed an agreement for statewide distribution with Young’s Market Co of Arizona. Head Brewer and Chief Operating Officer Chris Anderson attributed the success to “quality beer matched with a quality brand. But most importantly, the hardworking team at the brewery.”
In California, Young’s Market Co. is enthusiastic about the performance of the brand at retail. Young’s Market Co. Vice President of Beer Martin Wadley explained: “Coachella Valley Brewing has proven to be a great partner with Young’s Market Company and their beers strong addition to our growing craft portfolio. We have seen success with all of the CVB items in both on and off sale channels and look forward to the brewery continued growth and line-up in months and years ahead.”
“We are very proud and excited to welcome Coachella Valley Brewing Co to our family,” said Wayne Wiston, portfolio manager for Beer for Young’s Market Co Arizona says. “Here at Young’s the right fit is an important factor and not everyone we consider makes the grade. Every aspect of the way we do business is a consideration from product quality and pricing to marketing and support. The word team comes to mind. Will we make a great team? Do we have a similar vision for the brand and are we on the same page with regards to a commitment for quality? I would answer yes.”
With the Arizona launch, CVB will unveil its first can beer appropriately named “Phoenix.” Phoenix dactylifera is the genus name for the date palm tree which has long been cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. Phoenix Vienna lager is brewed with German Pilsner, Vienna, Carapils malts, and locally grown Medjoul dates which are added to the boil. Subtle German Noble hop bitterness provides balance and crisp flavor, with notes of toffee, dates and figs shining through into the finish. Phoenix is a quaffable malt forward lager with an influence of Medjool dates for a uniquely local Coachella Valley flavor. Phoenix pairs extremely well with spicy foods including bbq and Mexican delicacies. Phoenix will be available in 12 ounce cans, 22 ounce bottles and draft.
To celebrate its one year anniversary, CVB will hold a weekend long party starting on Friday, Sept. 5, with beer specials and features. A private invite-only party will be held on Saturday night for investors and select guests.
