Summer time beers lately have gone the way of lagers, seltzers, and RTDs, which are all great in their way. But for me, nothing is better than a refreshing sour on a patio. So, props to 10 Barrel Brewing for Crush, a collection of lower ABV kettle sour ales — not just for brewing them, but for putting the summer vibes branding/marketing muscle behind them. Sours are summer! Let’s take a look at the lineup.
Cucumber Crush, $12-14 (6-pack) | Brewed personally by the leader of 10 Barrel’s Innovation Team, Tonya Cornett—this year’s recipient of the Russell Schehrer Award for Innovation in Craft Brewing—10 Barrel’s Cucumber Crush kettle sour was designed to appeal to any palate, and particularly to virgins of the sour craze. It’s light, crisp, refreshing, and responsible for more medals than Michael Phelps. Go ahead, drink your vegetables.
Huckleberry Crush, $12-14 (6-pack) | Awarded Best of the Northwest by SIP Magazine, Huckleberry Crush is a kettle sour brewed to suit any occasion. By exaggerating the naturally tart flavor of the fruit, 10 Barrel’s brewers created a ridiculously crisp and refreshing thirst-quencher, a beer designed to expand the idea of what beer can be…but you had us at huckleberry.
Peach Crush, (Available only in Crush Variety Pack) | Nothing says summer like a juicy peach. Infused into 10 Barrel’s award-winning kettle sour ale, its an all-day-drinking refreshment that never gets old. With a mild sweetness that jives perfectly with Crush’s inherently sour nectar, it’s a can of sunshine waiting to be cracked.
The variety pack pictured up top spans the gamut of Crush Sour Ales along with two new additions, Peach and Huckleberry.
