The Northern Crops Institute (NCI) started in 1979 as a collaborative effort among the states of Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota to promote, develop and market crops grown in this four-state region. NCI is now an international meeting and learning center that unites customers, commodity traders, technical experts and professors for discussion and education. They also do online education, including the recent Barley to Beer on-demand course, which is now live right here.
This online course aims to provide participants with information on how to successfully choose high quality malting barley, as well as a basic understanding of the malting process and the brewing of beer. This is done through networked lectures and video tours, and participants can work at their own pace through the material. Registration costs $100.00.
