Ah, the first days of fall. To most it means football games and cool, crisp early evenings, but to brewers it means hops harvest season. Yakima, Wash., produces approximately 75 percent of all hops grown in the United States. While many smaller, local hops growing operations are sprouting up across the country, there’s nothing quite like harvest season in Yakima. Luckily, Ventifact Hops — an aspiring New York State-based hops grower — shared the sights and sounds of hop harvest at Loftus Ranches in Yakima Valley, Wash., courtesy of Hopunion’s Hop and Brew School.
