Fifty West Brewing Co., a CBB favorite fixture in Cincinnati’s craft beer scene, has kicked off the holiday season with the return of its family-friendly ice skating rink at the Wooster Pike location. From festive fun on the ice to cozy treats around the fire, Fifty West is creating a magical experience for all ages. Let’s see what celebratory funness Fifty West is serving up this December. From the press release:
Fifty West Founder Bobby Slattery shared, “At Fifty West, we’re all about celebrating families and our community. It brings us so much joy to offer fun activities for all ages, and being a place where families can come together is really what we’re all about.”
Ice skating returns, bigger and better
Fifty West’s 40×80-ft ice skating rink was upgraded last year, including improved ice quality and a smoother skating surface. For just $10 per person, guests receive skate rentals and one hour of ice time. Children under four skate for free. That’s basically a gift. Reservations are encouraged and can be made online or on-site, with hourly slots limited to 70 skaters for a safe and comfortable experience. The rink operates throughout the holiday season, providing the perfect opportunity for families and friends to enjoy a winter outing and maybe grab a craft beer and a burger. Or…
New treats: A hot chocolate bar and “Turbo-Charged S’more Shakes”
Fifty West is elevating its holiday offerings with a Build-Your-Own Hot Chocolate Bar. I just looked at that photo, so yeah, you can sign me up. The topping bar only costs $2. Guests can customize their cocoa with marshmallows, candy canes, whipped cream and various drizzles. For those seeking a grown-up twist, add a boozy shot for just $5. Don’t miss the Turbo-Charged S’more Shake, a decadent treat topped with roasted marshmallow, graham cracker, chocolate bar, graham cracker crumble and chocolate drizzle. Available throughout December, it’s a sweet way to warm up after skating.
Private keg curling and more holiday fun
Adults can enjoy the quirky sport of keg curling — sliding mini beer kegs onto targets. Available Friday and Saturday evenings, this unique activity offers a fun way to unwind with friends. The winter campus also features heated tents, fire pits, rentable cabanas, festive decorations and family-friendly drink options.
A Year-Round Hub for Family Fun
Fifty West Brewing is known for creating unique experiences that draw families and friends together. From volleyball and pickleball leagues in the summer to its winter ice rink, the brewery transforms its space to cater to the season.
New beginnings in Deerfield Township
Fifty West’s new location in Deerfield Township is already making waves. Designed with nostalgic charm, it offers everything from hand-spun shakes to volleyball and pickleball courts. Located near the bustling Deerfield Towne Center, this venue is quickly becoming a favorite gathering spot for locals. Building on the success of the Wooster Pike location, the Deerfield site embodies the Fifty West vision: a place where great food, craft beer and community collide.
Why unique attractions matter for breweries
In today’s ultra-competitive landscape, craft breweries can no longer be just about beer. They need to offer unique community hub experiences. Attractions like ice skating and keg curling provide a reason for families, casual visitors and die-hard beer fans to gather. By diversifying their offerings, breweries like Fifty West create opportunities for repeat visits, foster a sense of community and appeal to a broader audience. These creative initiatives are a blueprint for success in the competitive craft beer market.
