Colorado’s Breckenridge Brewery was founded way back in 1990, making it one of the pioneers in the American craft brewing industry. Originally located in Breckenridge, the brewery and brand are still a significant player in the craft beer movement. We should note the brand changed hands recently. Last October, Cannabis king Tilray acquired eight craft beer brands from Anheuser-Busch, which included Breckenridge (A-B bought Breckenridge in 2016).
Happily, Breckenridge Brewery is beginning to pop up on our radar again. For starters, the Colorado-based craft brewer just announced the opening of its newest brewery/eatery/drinkery location in Fort Collins (there’s also the brewery in Littleton and OG brewpub in actual Breckenridge). With doors opening in early August 2024, this new location looks to encompass 10,000 sq ft, offering a full restaurant experience and a new vibrant atmosphere in the heart of Fort Collins for all to enjoy.
From the press release:
“Born and raised in Colorado, I’ve spent twelve years honing my craft across Northern Colorado’s brewing landscape — from intimate taprooms to large-scale production,” says Ryan Joy, head brewer at Fort Collins’ new Breckenridge Brewery location. “My teams have earned top honors at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup, including a recent World Beer Cup bronze for Green Flash Brewing’s Hazy West Coast IPA. I’m passionate about creating beers that blend innovation with tradition and I will bring the same philosophy to our new Breck Brew location in Fort Collins.”
Nestled in the heart of Fort Collins, the establishment aims to maintain the legacy of Breckenridge Brewery while introducing innovative brewing and dining experiences. With 40 dedicated staff members on board, including the acclaimed Ryan Joy as head brewer, the brewery is poised to become our new favorite haunt (CBB party anyone?).
To celebrate the launch, Breckenridge Brewery is throwing a grand First Pour Party on August 17th at 1020 E Lincoln Ave. This community-focused event will offer live music, local food trucks and a host of vendors. Special giveaways and prizes from sponsors like Never Summer, Zeal Optics and Rovr Coolers will add to the festivities. In an eco-friendly move, attendees biking to the event will be rewarded with a token for a free beer.
The brewery has also crafted a special beer for the occasion, available in a 16-oz crowler adorned with artwork by Brooks Engel of Nowhere Land Supply, who also designed the event’s poster at the top of this page. The rest of his art is equally awesome. In line with its community support ethos, Breckenridge Brewery will donate a dollar for every pint or package sold to Project C.U.R.E., aiding global communities in need of medical supplies.
Jimmy Walker, Breckenridge’s head innovation brewer, will also be on hand to serve unique beers specifically brewed for the Fort Collins community and transported from their original pub in Breckenridge. This is full service folks.
Join the celebration of local craftsmanship and community spirit at Breckenridge Brewery’s new location on August 17th from 12to 7 p.m. No tickets are necessary for this day of community, craft beer and cheer.
