Nitro is definitely a growing trend in craft beer. When folks talk about “nitro,” it’s a reference to the type of gas used in the carbonation process. It means the difference between the creamier nitrogen beers (N2) and their lively, fizzier carbon dioxide (CO2) cousins (get real detailed over here).
Chart Industries, an international provider of cryogenic solutions to the brewery industry, is demonstrating its Nitrofresh Liquid Dosing System at the Craft Brewers Conference this week. The Nitrofresh technology is on display at booth #915 as Chart pulls back the curtain on how breweries of all sizes can bottle and can nitrogenated beer without widgets.
Chart’s Nitrofresh system allows breweries to “dose” a very accurate amount of liquid nitrogen into the can or bottle just prior to applying the lid or cap. This process, as developed by Chart, allows breweries to replicate the same appearance and mouthfeel of nitrogenated beer from the tap without the added capital for minimum order quantities of specialty cans and bottles with widgets.
Make sure to stop by the Chart booth during the 2015 Brewers Association Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America for a demonstration of this exciting technology that allows breweries to extend their packaged and distributed product lines into nitrogenated beers.
