VIDEO: We’d very much like to drink beer in these Long Trail Brewing sugar sheds

I have been to Long Trail Brewing Co. before — a side quest while visiting Killington. Inspired by the 273-mile hiking trail that traverses through the Green Mountains, Long Trail Brewing has been serving craft beer since 1989. This Vermont (um) trail blazer also has an amazing brewery, in a great location with excellent eats and drinks. Long Trail’s riverside, German-inspired craft brewery is 2.5 hours north of Boston and about 1.5 hours south of Burlington, Vermont, situated on the banks of the beautiful Ottauquechee River.

The brewery’s spacious riverside pub and restaurant were inspired by the Hofbräu House in Munich, serving a variety of small-batch beer and large-scale staples — especially its flagship Long Trail Ale — a German-style altbier. These are all great reasons to visit this classic craft brewery, but let me tell you the reason I want to go back.

Long Trail Brewing offers these awesome-looking Long Trail sugar sheds, creating another reason to seek out this awesome Vermont beer maker. In the video above, Long Trail shows off four heated sheds that seat up to eight people. These sugar shed experiences are reservation-only during the winter months on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and are available for 120-minute timeslots. Looks like pets are allowed too.

Some sheds even appear to have sponsors. The shed Thompson sits in is called the Vermont Flannel, and it showcases products and vibes via the Vermont Flannel Co. — a fun way to supper other local businesses.
