As the summer sun begins to cast its warm glow over Boston, a new beer garden has emerged, looking to become the city’s go-to spot for relaxation, entertainment and craft beer. Situated at the corner of Tremont and Boylston Streets, Harpoon Brewery’s beer garden at the Emerson UnCommon Stage is more than just a place to enjoy a cold beer. Open seven days a week from 12 to 9 p.m., this urban oasis is a hub of activity, seamlessly blending the vibrant energy of Boston with the laid-back musical vibes of a summer retreat.
According to writer Dallas Gagnon (awesome name) on Mass Live:
“The stage and garden highlight a new partnership between Emerson College and Harpoon Brewery in conjunction with the City of Boston, to activate what previously was an underserved corner of the oldest public park in the country.”
The Boston Common is a 50-acre public park in downtown Boston, and it first opened in 1634, at which point it didn’t have a sweet beer garden with a stage. In fact, this is only the second year for the Emerson UnCommon Stage; last year it was sponsored by Trillium Brewing. The performance space spans about 5,000 sq ft — a spot where local musicians, comedy shows, book readings and more can see the light of day — and it has a capacity of around 400 (those stats are from last year at least). To stay in the loop, visitors can join the email list or check the events calendar for updates. Emerson College’s downtown campus sits right next to the Boston Common.
Food and drink
Beer enthusiasts can savor a variety of Harpoon’s fresh draft beers, alongside an impressive selection of Dunkin’ Spiked Iced Tea and Coffee, wine, hard seltzer, hard cider, house Margaritas and non-alcoholic refreshments. Whether you’re a craft beer connoisseur or prefer a refreshing spiked tea, there’s something for everyone. I’ll take a Summer Style, please!
Adding to the allure is Rosa Mexicano, serving up elevated Mexican street food that promises a fresh take on park food. With no cover charge and an open-air setting, the Harpoon’s Boston Common beer garden is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy the best of summer in the heart of the city. There was a big opening block party on June 1st.
With this cool new summer beer garden. Harpoon Brewery will not be re-opening its beer garden in Worcester, Massachusetts, this summer at The Mercantile Plaza. Sad trombone. But Harpoon continues to catch our collective attention for its interesting popups around town — like its Harpoon’s Slopeside synthetic ice slide this past winter.
