1. Drake’s Brewing Co. gives back with Kick Back
Can’t beat a community fundraiser as the branding for a beer. After a huge kick off in 2016, Drake’s Brewing Co. is again releasing Kick Back, a golden, hoppy Session IPA. A portion of the proceeds will support East Bay Regional Parks through Drake’s community fundraising program. Last year, Drake’s exceeded its goal and raised over $10,000 to support trail cleanup and restoration at the East Bay parks, and the brewery has its sights set on beating that goal in 2017.
Kick Back made its debut at the brewery’s monthly First Friday party on June 2 and will be available in six packs and on draft through September at Drake’s Barrel House in San Leandro, Drake’s Dealership in Oakland, as well as distributed throughout California.
2. Free beer for life? Free beer for life!
The Green Bay Press Gazette shared the story of David and Abby Malcolm this week, and we still aren’t sure how this could possibly work, but it’s definitely an eye-popping offer: If you donate to their startup funding, you will get a ton of free beer, possibly for life.
Combined, they have decades of experience in restaurants and craft breweries but were looking for a creative, community-focused way to fund the project.
Enter free beer for one year for a $500 contribution or free beer for life for $1,500. The promotion also includes a special glass, and they’ll add your name to the “Founders Wall” in Zambaldi.
“We’re hoping to have a lot of people support it,” David Malcolm said. “We want them to come in after work or a softball game and drink their free beer and bring their friends.”
3. All the giving tied to this New Belgium 12 pack has us intrigued
It’s almost unfair to list New Belgium in a list like this because they are always killing it with their marketing, but I feel this one clears even its high bar. In conjunction with the World Bicycle Relief, a global non-profit that mobilizes people through the power of bicycles, proceeds from New Belgium’s specially marked Bike the World with Fat Tire 12 packs will go to World Bicycle Relief to help people in developing countries access education, healthcare and economic opportunities.
In the developing world, distance is a barrier that prevents children from attending school, the sick from receiving care and entrepreneurs from earning enough to feed their families. A high-quality, rugged bicycle can change all of that. The efficiency and productivity a bike provides allows individuals to accomplish much more in a single day and pedal into a new, bright future.
The cause is reason enough to be excited, but for an added bonus, Bike the World with Fat Tire will give three lucky winners, plus one guest each, the opportunity to shape their own Patagonia adventure in early 2018. Breathtaking peaks, ancient glaciers and old-growth forests make Patagonia a premiere South American travel destination for any travel enthusiast. The Bike The World with Fat Tire: Patagonia contest and summer promotion runs now through August 31.
