The Beer Institute recently announced a new VP, and we say congrats to Susan Haney.
Beer Institute President and CEO Jim McGreevy announced Haney to Vice President of Operations for the trade association. Haney has worked for the Institute for more than 13 years, when she started as the executive assistant to late president Jeff Becker. In her new position, Haney will oversee organizational operations, industry affairs and government affairs.
Before joining the Beer Institute in 2001, Haney worked for Security Mutual Life, a leading life insurance company based in Binghamton, N.Y.
The Beer Institute is often associated with the interests of larger, multinational beer conglomerates, but they have some good members, put out pretty good info and have some solid campaigns — though we’re not huge fans of the Fair Brewers Excise and Economic Relief (Fair BEER) Act — but hey, what do we know?
More fun info: According to an economic study jointly commissioned by the Beer Institute and the National Beer Wholesalers Association in 2012, U.S. brewers and beer importers are the foundation for an industry that puts more than 2 million Americans to work, directly and indirectly. Beer also contributed $246.5 billion to America’s economy and generated $49 billion in local, state and federal taxes.
