Hop Valley Brewing Co., a quality craft beer heritage brand that’s now a subsidiary of Tilray Brands, recently launched a partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers. This collaboration includes the opening of the Hop Valley Brewing Hop Box bar inside the Moda Center, adding a unique craft beer experience to Portland’s premier sports and entertainment venue.
The Hop Valley Brewing Hop Box bar showcases the brewery’s most popular offerings, including Citrus Mistress IPA and Bubble Stash IPA, along with other fan favorites. This new destination for craft beer fans also features distinctive green metal cladding, a neon Hop Valley sign with a basketball hoop and a cool-as-heck mural by Portland artist Matt Schlosky. The mural combines basketball and the essence of Oregon, including roses, Mt. Hood and Douglas firs. From the press release:
“We are excited to partner with Hop Valley Brewing to bring this quintessential Pacific Northwest bar to life inside Moda Center,” said Laura Flynn, Senior Vice President, Commercial Partnerships, Portland Trail Blazers & Rose Quarter. “The creative and engaging Hop Valley Brewing Hop Box bar will be a destination for craft beer lovers at events throughout the year, enhancing the game day and concert experience for Rip City with local favorites.”
A Look at Hop Valley Brewing’s History
Hop Valley Brewing was founded in 2009 in Eugene, Oregon, by four lifelong Oregonians. Named after the Willamette Valley’s rich hop-growing history, the brewery quickly gained a reputation for innovation and quality. Hop Valley’s creative brewing style incorporates Cryo Hops, developed in partnership with Yakima Chief Hops, which delivers bold flavors and aromatic profiles.
In 2016, Hop Valley joined Tenth and Blake, the craft and import division of MillerCoors. This partnership expanded its distribution and capacity. In 2023, Tilray Brands acquired Hop Valley, returning it to the Brewers Association’s definition of an independent craft brewery. Today, Hop Valley operates a brewery and two taprooms in Oregon and distributes its beers in 12 states.
Hop Valley’s portfolio of beers
Hop Valley Brewing has built a portfolio that appeals to both craft beer enthusiasts and newcomers. Its Stash Series uses Cryo Hops to create balanced, flavorful IPAs. Some of its standout offerings include:
- Bubble Stash IPA: A flagship beer with tropical flavors and natural blueberry and tangerine aromas.
- Stash Panda Hazy IPA: Featuring Citra Cryo Hops and grapefruit peel for a citrus-forward, tropical taste.
- Mango Stash IPA: A fruit-forward IPA with mango puree and Mosaic Cryo Hops.
- Cryo Stash Imperial IPA: A bold beer with candied malt notes and passion fruit, mango, and orange flavors.
Hop Valley’s beers are known for their approachable take on IPAs, offering smooth flavors without the bitterness often associated with traditional styles.
Tilray Brands: Elevating craft brewing
Hop Valley Brewing is now part of Tilray Brands’ extensive portfolio, which includes other notable craft beer brands like SweetWater Brewing, Montauk Brewing and 10 Barrel Brewing. Tilray’s focus on craft beer innovation and national distribution positions Hop Valley for continued growth.
