There were many inspirations to this grand old website Craft Brewing Business. A big influence on me was my friends from college — the Hartogs brothers from D.C. (early craft fans) and James Knott (the guy behind YouTube’s Better Beer Authority). A former CNN producer, Knott ran the Better Beer Authority for three years (2010-2013) out of his basement, always somehow scoring these great interviews from craft pioneers like Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head Brewery) and Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers (Founders Brewing Co.). The show made the industry seem that much more approachable for us starting out.
Well, Knott recently came out of retirement to conduct an interview with one of the beer world’s most out-spoken advocates. Greg Koch, the CEO and co-founder of Stone Brewing Co. sits down with Knott to discuss his search for a new CEO, his new role in the company, Stone’s new breweries in Richmond and Berlin, staying healthy while enjoying beer, corporate buyouts in the industry, Gluten-free beers and much, much more.
