My only regret for 2016? That I didn’t write in my vote for “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan this past November. Sorry Hillary. Sorry Donny. Just watch the video above, and you’ll quickly understand why there’s no leader more qualified to lead America. In fact, I submit that WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Jim Duggan is one of this country’s most charismatic patriots — usually fisting an American flag in his right hand and his signature two-by-four in his left. Somehow, Wyoming’s Melvin Brewing Co. has convinced him to hold a 2×4 IPA, which we will accept as a fairly good substitute for either or both.
You see, we just received word that the Alpine-based Melvin Brewing is once again set to celebrate its award-winning 2×4 IPA across the United States and in three countries on Saturday, Feb. 4. It’s planned special events at 30-plus participating bars from Boston and Washington, D.C., to San Francisco, Seattle and beyond. But that’s only part of the story. The fan-frickin’-tastic part of this story is that this year Hacksaw Jim Duggan is Melvin’s 2×4 Day spokesperson. In summary: Hacksaw and Melvin Brewing are making America great again. View all the details right over here.
What’s up with this 2×4 beer?
2×4 is an Imperial IPA with an absurd amount of hops, 10 percent ABV and a light malt base that reveals notes of pine, citrus and tropical fruit. 2×4 won a gold medal at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival, back-to-back Alpha King awards in 2012 and 2013 (placed 2nd in 2015), and a gold medal at the 2014 World Beer Cup. In addition to 2×4, Melvin will introduce its four RIIPA Series beers (Rotational Imperial IPAs). These beers will be available in draft and cans and will rotate through various territories throughout the next four quarters with no two beers ever being served within the same state at the same time.
