Break out the lawn chairs and dust off the coolers because American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), the annual celebration for craft beer hosted by the Brewers Association (BA), is here to kick off the unofficial start of beer season. From May 13 through May 19, 2024, local communities everywhere will spring into taprooms and breweries around the country to celebrate and support innovations and craftsmanship in the beer community.
Craft beer is an important part of American culture and the economy. 2023 marked an all-time high of 9,761 independent craft breweries, and most Americans live within 10 miles of a craft brewery. In addition, craft brewers collectively produced 23.4 million barrels of beer and directly employed more than 191,000 people last year. Breweries are important community gathering places, acting as an emblem of our thriving country.
“Craft breweries aren’t just businesses; they’re the heartbeat of our communities, fostering connections and enriching our neighborhoods,” said Ann Obenchain, vice president of marketing and communications at the Brewers Association. “With every sip of craft beer, we’re not just tasting quality; we’re investing in the livelihoods of growers, distributors, and brewers. Let’s raise our glasses and support the local gems that make our cities and towns shine.”
