This week’s ‘Beers to Know’ roundup consists of exclusive releases, summer seasonals and local tributes, including a new Summit Brewing IPA available via variety pack, an on-draft 10th anniversary celebration of tacos, and a tribute to the New York sky line.
Summit Brewing Co. launched Sága Juicy IPA at the end of June, the newest addition to the renowned Sága Goddess Series — and it will be exclusively packaged in the second Sága Goddess Series Variety Pack. Sága Juicy is brewed with a combination of American Citra and Amarillo hops, along with Australian Galaxy and New Zealand Nectaron hops, all of which result in a beer that bursts with juicy tangerine, stone fruit, and tropical flavors such as pineapple and kiwi.
“We are pleased to build the Sága IPA brand by introducing Sága Juicy IPA as the latest offering in our Sága Goddess Series,” said Brandon Bland, CEO and President of Summit Brewing Company. “This newest addition to the line represents our continuous pursuit of innovation and excellence. We are also looking forward to the release our second Sága Goddess Series Variety Pack, providing beer lovers with a well-rounded tasting experience.”
The Sága Goddess Series Variety Pack features three additional styles selected from the Sága Goddess portfolio, Sága IPA, Sága Hazy IPA and Sága Imperial IPA. With its wide range of flavors and profiles, the variety pack offers a unique opportunity for consumers to explore the rich and storied heritage of the Sága Goddess Series.
Sága Juicy IPA is also be available at select bars and restaurants in the Midwest.
Mike Hess Brewing celebrates City Tacos
San Diego’s City Tacos, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, has collaborated with nearby Mike Hess Brewing to release its first ever beer Blessed City Hazy IPA. The brew is available on draft exclusively at City Tacos’ seven San Diego County locations. Founder Gerry Torres made announcement. Blessed City is 7.0% alcohol-by-volume (ABV) and has tasting notes of fresh citruses. Pints sell for $7.00, and 10 percent of proceeds will be donated to local charities.
“For the name we wanted to show how we feel about where we live,” Torres said. “We are certainly blessed to call America’s Finest City our home. It’s heavenly, really. We can’t thank our longtime friends at Mike Hess enough for collaborating on this special project. We believe the beer will pair well with any of our nearly 20 tacos on the menu.”
Torres is originally from Mexico City, and he moved to San Diego in 1992. In June of 2022, he became a United States citizen in a ceremony held at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in downtown. City Tacos originally opened in 2014 in North Park. It now has additional locations in East Village (adjacent to Petco Park), Encinitas, La Mesa, Ocean Beach (OB Playground), Pacific Beach, and Sorrento Valley.

Transmountain Diversion is a monster Hazy Double India Pale Ale brewed in collaboration with up-mountain friends Casey Brewing and Blending. Coming in at 8.7% ABV, Transmountain Diversion offers the perfect fusion of grapefruit, passionfruit, and white wine grapes.
Orange Creamsicle is a 4.2% ABV perfectly balanced sour ale crafted with vanilla, orange juice, and milk sugar. This favorite summer bevvy is sure to satisfy tastebuds with its juicy tang, familiar sweetness, and crisp and refreshing finish.
Torch & Crown Brewing brews up some New York nostalgia
New York’s STATE Grill and Bar and Torch & Crown Brewing Co. have collaborated on a new pilsner named Sky Boy. Brewed locally in New York City and lagered for over 100 days, Sky Boy features an Art Deco-inspired illustration of the iconic Empire State Building, nodding to the city’s nostalgia, skyline, and energy. It will be exclusively available at STATE Grill ongoing, with a two-week launch from July 1-14 for sale retail at torchandcrown.com.
Sky Boy was created by Torch & Crown brewmaster and co-founder Joe Correia to pair perfectly with food or stand alone. With a crisp, cracker-y malt flavor profile, it has a clean, doughy aroma with a light punch of fragrant hops to round it out. Featuring a clear, golden and straw-like appearance, the finish is full, refreshing, and bright. At only 4.9% alc., it has the provenance of a craft beer while remaining crushable.
STATE Grill, the flagship restaurant of the Empire State Building, has long championed local farms and purveyors. With a popular weekday happy hour and dinner service, Chef Morgan Jarrett caters to locals, building tenants and tourists, truly a “city within a city.”
“As Manhattan’s Brewery, we are excited about creating an exclusive beer for one of the most iconic buildings in the New York City skyline. The Empire State Building is bold, iconic, and timeless so we’ve created a beer, and label, to match that character. We’re delighted to play a role in bringing Sky Boy to life for the patrons of The Empire State Building,” said John Dantzler, CEO and Co-Founder at Torch & Crown.
