The Italian Beef sandwich, a longtime Chicago favorite is once again trending on social media thanks to the upcoming Season 3 premiere of the hit TV series, “The Bear.” It just so happens that the Italian Beef sandwich is a staple on the menu at the Huss Brewpub location in Downtown Phoenix. Sensing a nice opportunity to promote the sandwich and its brewpub, the Huss team is tying in a promotion with a charitable cause.
From Thursday, June 27 through Wednesday, July 31, $2 from every “The Bear” Italian Beef Sandwich sold will be donated to the Navy SEAL Foundation. Customers can also enjoy this hearty sandwich at Huss Uptown in Central Phoenix and Papago Brewing Co. in Mesa during this time.
We’ll go ahead and name this our Craft Beer Marketing Idea of the Week.

Huss Brewing Co. opened its doors in South Tempe, Arizona in August 2013, with a 30-barrel system, a small tasting room with 20 taps, and room for growth. In 2016 Huss acquired the Papago Brewing Company in Scottsdale, creating the newly formed Huss Family of Beers and transforming Huss into the 3rd largest brewer in the state.

The cause
The cause near and dear to Shawn Weller, Director of Sales and Marketing for Huss, who also happens to be a veteran. The foundation provides a comprehensive set of over 30 essential programs for SEALs, SWCCs, veterans and their families under five Pillars of Support – Strength, Resilience, Health, Education, and Community.
“As a Navy veteran, I am extremely honored to be able to give back to my former and current shipmates,” said Weller. “The Navy SEAL Foundation plays a critical role in supporting the families of wounded and fallen Navy SEALs and SWCC operators who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our great nation.”
The sandwich
This two-fisted sandwich is made with slowly-braised, thin-sliced beef, plus sweet peppers and a blend of Italian seasonings to create a melt in your mouth wonder. Topped with melted sharp provolone and giardiniera on a crusty roll, it’s served with Huss’ famed sidewinder fries and house-made giardiniera ketchup. Even tastier, the Huss Italian Beef sandwich pairs perfectly with a pint of Scottsdale Blonde.
