Asbury Park Brewery is known for fusing two of our favorite things — craft beer and music. Expanding on this great combo, Asbury Park just announced the grand opening of its second location at 614 Cookman Ave, Asbury Park, New Jersey. The brewery officially opened its doors to the public on Friday, May 24th, offering an exciting new destination for beer enthusiasts and music fans alike.
The new Asbury Park Brewery spans an impressive 3,180 sq ft, featuring both a state-of-the-art brewery and a welcoming tasting room. Open seven days a week, the venue boasts 12 beers on tap, including award-winning year-round favorites (like all those excellent Dragon brews) + seasonal brews and new releases. Visitors can enjoy growler and crowler fills, takeout can sales, and a variety of brewery merchandise before basking in all the hard work that went into this new venue. From the press release:
“It’s been a grind the last few years trying to get this new space open,” says founder Bob McLynn. “We can’t wait to welcome back our old friends who used to come to punk shows at the old space along with everyone hitting us up on social media waiting for this place to open. We have some great new beers in the tanks that will be released soon!”
A music-lover’s paradise
Reflecting its deep roots in the local music scene, the tasting room at Asbury Park Brewery doubles as a live performance space, hosting musicians and providing a dynamic atmosphere for guests. The space can also be booked for private events, making it a versatile venue for various occasions. Guests are encouraged to bring in food from Asbury Park’s diverse selection of restaurants to complement their beer experience.
Founded by local musicians and beer enthusiasts Bob McLynn, Chris Cornell, Mike Pimco and Jeff Plate in in 2016, Asbury Park Brewery’s original location on Sewall Ave quickly became a beloved fixture in the community. The new location aims to do the same thing, featuring a stunning art installation by local artist Porkchop, celebrating the brewery’s musical heritage. The tasting room walls are adorned with collages of posters, photographs, and concert tickets from iconic musicians who have performed in Asbury Park. A standout feature is the 13 ft, 6 inches tall wooden record wall behind the bar, showcasing over 8,000 vinyl albums.
The interior design draws inspiration from Japanese listening bars, encouraging guests to savor the musical experience. Natural and vintage elements like an exposed brick wall and reclaimed wood bar tops create a warm and inviting ambiance. A glass wall separates the tasting room from the brewery, offering patrons a glimpse into the brewing process.
Embracing the local arts community
Asbury Park Brewery is committed to partnering with local artists and musicians. They’ve collaborated with acts like The Front Bottoms, Jack Antonoff, and Panic! At The Disco on limited-edition beer releases, with more exciting collaborations on the horizon. The tasting room will feature a rotating selection of new brews alongside beloved year-round offerings such as Blonde, Sea Dragon, Easy Dragon, and Dragon Juice, as well as seasonal favorites like Watermelon Summer and Pony Pale Ale, in celebration of the Stone Pony’s 50th anniversary.
Asbury Park Brewery’s new location is set to become a vibrant hub for craft beer lovers and music aficionados. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a new visitor, this exciting venue promises a unique and enjoyable experience for all. Now, enjoy some photos!
