CBB is a big proponent of Safe Bars training. Safe Bars helps alcohol-serving spaces create safe, welcoming, and respectful environments for their patrons and staff. It is worth the investment at any price for craft beer and bar staff, and until Feb. 29, Safe Bars training is 15 percent off.

If you need more convincing … At least half of all sexual assaults involve alcohol consumption by the aggressor, the target, or both, making alcohol-serving spaces and the hospitality industry as a whole a critical platform to address sexual violence. Though alcohol consumption and sexual assault frequently happen together, alcohol use doesn’t cause sexual assault.
The link is complicated, and it’s important to understand the nuances of this relationship to prevent sexual assault and avoid victim-blaming more effectively. Given the relationship between alcohol and sexual assault, it’s critical that we build a safer culture in bars, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, clubs, conferences, events, and other alcohol-related spaces that don’t tolerate harassment or assault.
Safe Bars trains the hospitality industry to stop sexual aggression and other forms of violence through three distinct programs: Active Bystander Skills, Allyship Skills, De-escalation Skills. The group offers customized training to suit an establishment or organization’s unique needs.
Safe Bars accomplished quite a bit in 2023:
- 300+ hours of GBV prevention education
- 16 new Safe Bars HQ trainers
- 11 new community chapters in 9 states
- 35 venues trained across 29 cities
- 9 conference presentations
- And $95,000 raised to stop sexual harassment in hospitality spaces in 2023.
FYI: That goal is $125,000 in 2024.
