Founded in Round Rock, Texas, in 2011, Flix Brewhouse is a chain of cinema breweries, combining big movies, luxury amenities and beer brewed on-premise + delicious food — like all day breakfast — which includes creme brulee French frickin’ toast. The last time we counted, the company had nine operating locations in six states, with a new location opening this fall in Mansfield, Texas. Before that location even opens, Flix and friends have announced another state-of-the-art cinema brewpub that looks to open in early 2024 on Albuquerque’s east side, marking a significant addition to the entertainment scene of New Mexico’s largest city, which already has one Flix Brewhouse at 3258 La Orilla Road NW.
The company plans to revamp a 28,000-sq-ft, seven-screen Regal/UA arthouse, nestled at the corner of Tramway Blvd. and Indian School Rd., into the Flix Brewhouse experience — 100% luxury electric recliners, crystal-clear all-laser projection, Dolby immersive sound, proprietary “Easy Glider 2” sliding and pivoting tabletops, complete cooked-to-order menu, craft beer brewed on premise, brewpub inside and more. The end goal is to build a 720-seat dine-in cinema brewery.
This prime location comes via a lease from Hinkle Income Properties, and the site is next to Hinkle Fun Center, which is an equally awesome Albuquerque entertainment venue with bumper cars, laser tag, paintball, arcade and beyond. It looks to be a good combo.
From the press release:
“We’re thrilled to bring a world-class concept like Flix Brewhouse to our High Ridge Center,” said Bryan Hinkle, principal of the family-owned Albuquerque developer. “Flix is consistently voted Albuquerque’s best movie theater, and when we had the opportunity to renavate the theater, getting Flix to come to the east side was our top choice. It’s a superb complement to our Fun Center next door, and will create a destination location for quality entertainment in the Northeast Heights.”
In addition to premiering the latest Hollywood blockbusters, Flix Brewhouses curate unique events such as fan gatherings, family movie parties and all-inclusive beer dinners, showcasing their award-winning brews. The Flix Junior series is tailored to the youngest guests, ensuring a delightful experience with coloring activities, increased lighting and reduced volume levels for sensitive ears.
But for the adults, there’s craft beer. Grab an amber colored Lupulus IPA or a clean crisp Lucha Libre Mexican Lager and then order from a complete cooked-to-order menu as well as a selection of soft drinks and signature cocktails. According to its site: Flix took home its first national award at the Great American Beer Festival in 2015 with a Silver in the German Alt-bier category. It has also won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the Indiana Brewer’s Cup as well as two bronze medals and one gold from the Beverage Tasting Institute. The food looks equally as indulgent. Can you imagine eating this five-meat pizza and a blood orange Luna Rosa Wit while watching The Creator? That is living.
“Flix Brewhouse has become synonymous with excellence in cinema on the west side of Albuquerque, and we are excited to bring our brand of experiential cinema, award-winning craft beer, and delicious food to the east side right next to the Hinkle Fun Center,” said Allan Reagan, Flix founder.
