The 16 Lots Southern Outpost is a veteran-owned brewery, born along the Kentucky side of the Ohio river in the summer of 2023. The 7,700-square-foot establishment is dedicated to “beer exploration, romance and knowledge,” to offer a reprieve from the everyday world. Its 2,000-square-foot, two-sided patio with stunning views of downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River, as well as a cigar lounge (with speakeasy-style hidden door) plus a stage for live music and events, all aid in offering that reprieve.
To commemorate this first summer in business, the 10-bbl brewhouse will host the first pride event to ever be hosted at Newport on the Levee—a Drag Brunch featuring some of Cincy’s most beloved and well-known performers.
“We’re excited to bring this show not only to our own stage, but to the Levee as a whole,” says Mike Burton, 16 Lots founder and co-owner. “I’m really proud that our brewery will be the first establishment in the complex to take this inclusive, community-building step … the first of many to come.”
Why brunch? Because 16 Lots Southern is already among the Levee’s only restaurants to offer weekend breakfast. Now the goal is to turn it up a notch and make this a premier event. The show takes place on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 12p; tickets are $18/each plus tax/fees. Ticketed attendees are invited to arrive as early as 10a, to enjoy drinks and dining before the show begins.
But that’s just the start of the two-day extravaganza. With 16 Lots Southern being a cornerstone of the Levee complex, they are positioned in a prime spot on its northernmost point—directly facing the river right alongside the Purple People Bridge. Which means an unmatched viewing spot for this year’s W&S/WEBN Fireworks and Riverfest on the Levee.
“I watched the fireworks from our deck here last year, when we were getting ready to build out the brewery and renovate the bar and restaurant … that barge they launch from is right in front of us on the river,” says Del Hall, co-owner and chief commercial officer. “The view from here is simply the best there is, period. And with the amazing food, parking discount and live band we’ve got lined up, why would you go anywhere else?”
The brewery will kick off the day’s festivities at 4p on Sunday, Sept. 3, where one all-inclusive ticket guarantees attendees a reserved seat for the annual Rozzi Fireworks display, all-you-can-eat fare including a raw bar, carving station, appetizers and more, as well as a parking discount for each group. Tickets are $199/each plus tax/fees.
Following the fireworks, the party continues—Cincy’s favorite seven-man ensemble, Dat Band, will be taking the stage to play a 2.5 hour set of their signature funk-soul-rock sounds.
