PorchDrinking.com is one of our favorite craft beer publications. We’ve been reading the website for years, and it’s cool to see the title celebrating 10. As we know, it’s not easy to successfully run beer industry websites, and PorchDrinking is one of the best. More cool news. To celebrate its first decade, PorchDrinking is hosting an invitational-style beer festival taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at York Street Yards at 3833 Steele Street, Suite 1332, Denver. Tickets here. Featuring over 50 breweries, distilleries, cideries, and wineries, the PorchDrinking 10th Anniversary Beer Festival will bring together some of the best breweries from across the country, many of which helped play a formative role in the growth and development of the publication during its infancy.
“As we’ve seen over the past decade, it’s incredibly difficult to operate a craft beer publication, let alone a fully independent one,” said Founder Tristan Chan. “So in honor of our 10th anniversary we felt it was only appropriate to invite many of the breweries who helped support us along the way.”
Kicking off with an early-entry VIP session from 5 to 6 p.m. and general admission following from 6 to 9 p.m., the 10th Anniversary Beer Festival welcomes several nationally acclaimed out-of-town brewers including the likes of Other Half Brewing, Phase Three Brewing, Live Oak Brewing, More Brewing, Jester King Brewing, Sante Adairius, Moksa Brewing, Maplewood Brewing and more. The event will also feature several hometown heroes in Amalgam, Westbound & Down Brewing, Cerebral Brewing, Outer Range Brewing, Knotted Root Brewing and Baere Brewing just to name a few. Going beyond beer, the festival will also include local spirits producers, Laws Whiskey House and The Block Distilling, as well as cidermaker Stem Ciders, Snowmelt seltzerbrand, June Shine kombucha, and Partake, a non-alcoholic beer brand.
But beyond just the beer element, this event will benefit two tremendous causes.
PorchDrinking’s Anniversary Beer Festival will partner with Youth on Record, an incredible non-profit organization that provides music education and a hands-on holistic approach toward imparting all aspects of the music industry to Denver’s youth.
Additionally this event will also kick-off a cause that is vitally important to the craft beer industry. In addition to Youth on Record, PorchDrinking is also using this event as an opportunity to partner with Bottleshare to launch the PorchDrinking Mental Health fund aimed at supporting employees of the beer industry.
“Our publication was founded upon the ideals of promoting the incredible stories that are born from the beer industry, but over the last decade, we’ve also witnessed how much more we could do to support those struggling within our industry,” said Chan. “Through this event, we’re teaming up with a like-minded non-profit in Bottleshare to launch a program where members of the craft beer industry can eventually apply for grants to receive free therapy sessions with licensed therapists.”
PorchDrinking has already aligned with Better Help, an online counseling network, that will be supporting their Mental Health fund through a month of free tele-help sessions for grant recipients. But PorchDrinking also hopes to identify an equally strong local network of professional therapists to provide in-person sessions as well. In addition to receiving a portion of funds from ticket sales, both organizations will receive 100 percent of funds generated from a silent auction, which will be organized by charitable giving consultant group, Positive Legacy.
“In celebrating a decade of beer reporting and storytelling, we wanted to hold a celebration that truly honors our incredible staff, brewery friends, industry workers, and Colorado’s craft beer scene,” said Chan.
