In early August, D.G Yuengling & Son Inc. announced that it had created the world’s largest QR code grown from crops in Farmland, Ind. The same Stars and Stripes QR code is currently appearing on special cans of Yuengling Lager. This giant corn QR code measures roughly a 1/4 mile long by a 1/4 mile wide — or about the length of 20 football fields. Yuengling worked with Chalfant Family Farms, which planted the impressive array in May to form the code’s design.
As mentioned, that very same QR code is currently being marketed on Yuengling’s limited-edition camouflage Team Red, White & Blue cans. Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) is a nonprofit organization focused on the health and wellness of the American military and veteran community. When scanned, the QR code unlocks the opportunity to immerse drinkers in a digital Stars & Stripes experience where they can donate to Team RWB. Or you can just click here to see what it’s all about. Or hell, I’ll just tell you. It’s Lee Brice telling you to drink more beer:
From the press release:
“This is a QR code like no other,” said Sheryl Yuengling, 6th generation family member. “As we enter the back half of the summer, we wanted to offer up a unique and fun reminder to support Team RWB and have some fun with Lee Brice. Today’s unveiling further highlights the brewery’s year-round campaign dedicated to supporting our nation’s heroes.”
Yuengling has donated over $800,000 to charities focused on supporting active-duty servicemen, veterans and their families since 2016 through the Yuengling Stars and Stripes program. These special cans are currently available across the brewery’s 23-state footprint in 12-oz 12-pack and 24-pack cans and single-serve 24-oz cans until the end of the summer and will be available for purchase at fans’ favorite stores, restaurants, and bars.
