The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) says one of the most common problems they see on alcohol beverage labels is errors in the mandatory health warning statement, including punctuation and formatting problems. The following health warning statement must appear on all alcohol beverages that contain 0.5% or more alcohol by volume:
GOVERNMENT WARNING: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects. (2) Consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car or operate machinery, and may cause health problems.
TTB provided these tips to avoid the most common errors they see with the health warning statement:
