I have been to Newport, Oregon. I have stayed overnight at the original Rogue brewpub (today called Rogue Bayfront Public House) which sits on Yaquina Bay next to the busy fisheries. I have drunk beer with the The Muther Shuckers, local Rogue ambassadors that love tall tales not unlike the old fabler in the video above. So, this excellent animation, just released by Rogues Ales and Spirits, really hits home for the brand.
Batsquatch Hazy IPA and Colossal Claude Imperial IPA are popular core beers from Rogue that are coming to life in the Monsters of IPA animated short series. The first episode is above, and it’s great. What’s the premise? From the press release:
“For years, rumors have circled that deep in the woods on Mount St. Helens lives the fabled Batsquatch. While there are many tales of Batsquatch, they are all a bit hazy on the details,” says Hagen Moore, VP of Marketing and Creative. “We needed to know more about the monster behind our tropical, hazy IPA, so we took it upon ourselves to uncover the truth.”
If you didn’t know, Batsquatch and Colossal Claude are actual Pacific Northwest myths, and these elusive, and I’ll venture, incredibly real supernatural creatures have mystified Oregonians for decades. Now, they are available in beer and cartoon formats. Keep heading back to Rogue’s YouTube page for more episodes. Enjoy!
