The holidays are about both community and consumerism. In the spirit of both, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite craft brewery collaborations that go beyond beer — partnerships with a nearby bakery or a regional mustard maker. Feel inspired to work on your next local collaboration or to open your wallet and order something for someone you are obligated to buy gifts for because of social convention love.
Great Lakes Brewing Bertman Original Mustard
We’re starting with this Great Lakes and Bertman Original collaboration mustard because we are unabashed homers. Bertman Original Ballpark Mustard and Great Lakes Brewing are two iconic Cleveland favorites, and because Dortmunder Gold is maybe the perfect gameday beer, this partnership has earned a lot of love from Cleveland baseball fans and foodies. Made with its own spice blend and Dortmunder Gold Lager, the mustard has a tangy kick. It is available at the Great Lakes brewpub, gift shop, online store and at select retailers where Bertman Original Mustard is sold. Buy it here.
Ska Brewing True Blonde Honey Mustard
You can never have enough different types of mustard. Out in Colorado, Ska Brewing and Durango Artisan Foods teamed up to make this honey mustard crafted with Ska’s True Blonde Ale. And for an added local bonus, True Blonde is made with locally sourced honey from Honeyville. Buy it here.
Pike Brewing sauces
Seattle’s Pike Brewing has a line of four versatile sauces featuring local, organic ingredients and award-winning Pike Brewing favorites like Kilt Lifter and XXXXX Stout. A collaboration between Pike Head Brewer Art Dixon and Pike Owner and Executive Chef Gary Marx, each condiment is crafted with just the right amount of beer. The smoky-sweet Pike Kilt Lifter BBQ Sauce is great on ribs, the spicy Pike IPA Habanero BBQ Sauce will amp up some wings and spread that stone-ground Pike XXXXX Stout Mustard on sandwiches. Saint Arnold Brewing Co. peanut butter dog treats
Saint Arnold teamed up with Barley Bones for its Craft Doggie Treats. Barley Bones strives to use as many organic ingredients as possible and works hard to source them locally or regionally. For these treats, Saint Arnold combines its spent malted barley with organic oat and rye flours for a fully organic dog treat. Spent malted barley contains a high protein content, a high content of digestible fiber, a significantly low fat content and is a great source of minerals, making it an excellent foundation for dog treats and foods. Dust Bowl Brewing snacks
Dust Bowl Brewing, based in Northern California, teamed up with Jasper Specialty Foods, another family-owned and operated local business specializing in the production of unique almond related food snacks. Together these two companies have perfected the recipe and production of Taco Truck Lager Beer Brittle with lime salt, Taco Truck Amber Beer Brittle with chili salt and California Line Vanilla Blonde Ale Caramel Corn. These novelty items are produced by Jasper Specialty Foods and showcase the well-known beer branding associated with Dust Bowl’s Taco Truck beers and California Line Vanilla Blonde Ale. Braxton Brewing teams with Graeter’s Ice Cream
Graeter’s Ice Cream is a 147-year-old, family owned craft ice cream institution located in Cincinnati, Ohio. It has collaborated with Braxton Brewing, a local brewing company, introducing its first-of-a-kind Stout & Pretzels Ice Cream, a creatively crafted ice cream influenced by Braxton Brewing’s Dead Blow Tropical Stout. Eighty pounds of macerated dates are brewed with a Dry English Ale yeast to provide a vibrant, fruity and tropical aroma with a subtle amount of fruity esters. Dead Blow is a dry, full bodied, smooth stout that is lighter on bitterness. Similarly, Graeter’s Stout & Pretzels ice cream will mimic the flavorful notes found in Braxton’s brew to create an ice cream with crunchy pretzels to complement each distinct note. Find it here.
Funky Buddha and Hoffman’s Collaboration Chocolate
Florida’s Hoffman’s has created an exceptional chocolate truffle made with Funky Buddha Brewery’s award-winning No Crusts peanut butter and jelly brown ale. Sorry if you’re looking for it online, this local chocolate and beer collaboration is display at Publix super markets in the Funky Buddha territory.
Wolf’s Ridge Brewing-inspired salami
Wolf’s Ridge Brewing aided in the creation of Lupo Salami with North Country Charcuterie, a family-owned and operated company that hand makes cured meats in Columbus, Ohio. Deep, dark and mysterious, a Russian Imperial Stout meets Mexican Mole to create a rich, globe-trotting flavor. The brewery’s Dire Wolf blended with Mole spiced Berkshire pork makes for a bold and rich addition to any holiday cheese or charcuterie board. Buy it here.
Lone Tree Brewing soap
Jake Miller bar tends at Lone Tree Brewing but also owns Colorado’s Two Ravens Soap. His story is pretty cool: “I was a homebrewer and had learned I could incorporate beer into soaps for extra skin nourishment. Once I had enough soap testing and tweaking of my recipe to include beer, I approached the tasting room manager at the time and she was on board before I could even explain the process. While growing the soap business, Lone Tree Brewery was extremely supportive and flexible with my schedule. I was able to then add more breweries to my client base as my connections in the industry grew. As of today, I’ve got six breweries on my list, and they’ve been selling beer soaps at a fast pace. Top Lone Tree beer soap sellers are their Double IPA, Irish Red, English Old Ale and I’m excited to release Vanilla Caramel Amber beer soap this weekend for their 7th Anniversary party.” Buy some here.
Foothills Brewing Moravian Porter pack
Winston-Salem has the second largest Moravian population in the country (behind only Bethlehem, Pa.), so the Foothills Brewing collaborates on a gift pack with local Dewey’s Bakery that includes both beer (Moravian Porter — the only brewery in the world that brews that style) and their cookies (ginger spice Moravian cookies). There’s even a little Moravian star Christmas ornament in the gift box. Don’t think you can order it online.
Brink Brewing Local Artist Glass Series
OK, this might be out favorite thing. In December, Brink Brewing is releasing two more glasses in its Artist Glass Collection — specialty beer releases feature glassware created by local artists. Seriously, check out the other entries in this series. They are all awesome.

Well, OK, maybe this is our favorite. The rockers on the back of this vintage 1970s era Brooklyn Brewery denim vest jacket are chain stitched by hand by the crew at Junkyard Jeans. These jackets are available in extremely limited edition. The jackets are made in the USA by Wrangler or Levi brands from the 1970s and tend to run small in size.
