In its latest ad, Anheuser-Busch InBev gives a shout out to its breweries in Newark, N.J., Fairfield, Calif., Jacksonville, Fla., St. Louis, Mo., and Columbus, Ohio, touting itself as the “largest local brewer” in America.
It’s an interesting spin, and while Anheuser-Busch InBev does operate breweries in those towns, this self-proclaimed “local brewer” is cutting jobs in St. Louis and moving them to Argentina.
A statement from Vice President of People Jim Brickey says the reductions were minimized by using unfilled positions.
The company will not disclose how many employees have lost their jobs since the merger with InBev.
…
Some of the work that has been eliminated in the United States will be performed at an AB InBev global center in Argentina.
Jobs cuts? Argentina? Strange news from a “local brewer,” especially when actual local craft breweries are still growing at an exciting rate.
