What if you could help cure cancer by drinking beer? Well now’s your chance. The Cure Starts Now has partnered once again with Rivertown Brewery to create a custom beer to benefit pediatric brain cancer research. As part of The Cure Starts Now’s Once in a Lifetime Gala, Rivertown donated a “Brewmaster for a Day” exBEERience package and this beer is the final result.
“We love The Cure Starts Now, their mission to find a homerun cure and their team. This is the first year that we are packaging our Cure Collab in bottles, in addition to kegs. We are excited to bring awareness across our six states of distribution to such an amazing organization,” said Rivertown Dream Facilitator Lindsey Roeper.
Originally started in 2007 in tribute to six-year-old Elena Desserich and her fight against brain cancer, The Cure Starts Now Foundation has quickly gained acclaim as one of the fastest growing cancer research charities and one of the first ones to advocate a homerun strategy for cancer research. With 32 chapters worldwide, The Cure Starts Now has funded over $10 million in homerun cancer research at institutions globally, including Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Stanford University and Boston Children’s Hospital.
The beer is called Salted Carm-Ale — an ale with delicious caramel flavoring inspired by Lauren Hill, the Mount St. Joseph College basketball player who battled DIPG and became a voice for children everywhere battling cancer and her love for chocolate caramel candies. There will be a tapping party on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rivertown Brewery and Barrel House in Monroe, Ohio, to celebrate the creation of Salted Carm-Ale. Six packs of Salted Carm-Ale will be on store shelves mid-November.
“Rivertown’s commitment to helping kids battling cancer with The Cure Starts Now has been extraordinary. We love working with companies who are so passionate and driven to putting an end to cancer through the homerun cure,” said Brooke Desserich, executive director of The Cure Starts Now.
