Genuine craft breweries* will need to continue to wave the indie flag high and proud to educate the public on the difference between corporate and craft beers. To help beer drinkers understand which products are truly independently owned, the Brewers Association (the not-for-profit trade group dedicated to promoting small and indie craft brewers) recently launched a new certified seal that authentic craft brewers can tout on their labels — to further distance craft beer from brands owned by large beverage corporations such as AB InBev, which currently owns nameplates like Goose Island, Blue Point Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Golden Road Brewing, Four Peaks Brewing, Breckenridge Brewery, Virtue Cider, Devils Backbone Brewing and who knows what other brands by today.
What’s super cool is the seal is available to all independent craft brewers to use free of charge. To obtain the seal, a brewery must have a valid TTB Brewer’s Notice, meet the BA’s craft brewer definition* and sign a licensing agreement. The seal is available to both BA member and non-member breweries. Once the seal is approved, here are nine ways to use the independent craft brewer seal in your brewery’s taproom. Watch the video above if you’re super lazy.
- Tap handles
- Glassware
- Menu
- Brewery Merchandise
