Watch the Scots from Windswept explain the brewing process in these short videos

When I think Scottish craft beer, I lazily contemplate BrewDog (multinational brewery and pub chain based in Ellon, Scotland) or maybe Innis and Gunn (barrel-aging experts out of Edinburgh). But the overall number of breweries in Scotland has actually surpassed 100 for the first time in more than a century. Last year, a total of 115 were in operation, compared to 93 in the previous year, figures shared in this article of The Scotsman via the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). Among that list of interesting Scotch beer tinkerers, Windswept Brewing Co. caught our attention this week.

Windswept Brewing is an award-winning craft brewery based in Lossiemouth, on the shores of the Moray Firth in the north of Scotland — basically next to one of the world’s most beautiful and unspoiled coastlines. Fittingly, the Windswept brand reflects the company’s love of outdoor pursuits and the rugged beauty of windswept Scotland. Monday of this week, Windswept released this series of cool vignette videos on their brewing process. Even though these mini movies are simple and low-fi, they are a perfect way to teach consumers and interact with customers. Watching makes me want to grab a plane to Inverness, snag a Tornado single-hop citra IPA and go looking for a few Moray Firth bottlenose dolphins. Who wants to go with me?
