We roamed the halls of the Great American Beer Festival last week to chat with brewers and brewery owners about a variety of things (we will post a video of this after we learn how to edit video), and one question we asked everyone was “what do you like most about the craft brewing industry?” We asked this already expecting the answer, and respondents did not disappoint by all saying “camaraderie” or “community.” This usually takes the form of backslapping or collaboration, but the community ties run much deeper than that. This story from Virginia Beach, for example, will really tug at the old heart tap handle.
Aaron Holley, part owner of Wasserhund Brewing Co., 28 years old and a husband and father, had a stroke on Oct. 1. The family reports that he is doing better — able to communicate and sensations are returning to his limbs — but medical bills are going to be a huge burden. Here is where the brewing community steps in. Go directly to this GoFundMe Page to help out Holly and his family. The project has already nearly reached $30,000 of its $35,000 goal. Here is a link to that GoFundMe page if you are interested in donating. We here at CBB definitely wish Holley a speedy recovery.
