Quick question: Who comes up with all these “days?” I mean, come on! There’s national Talk Like a Pirate Day. No one is going to take us seriously if we keep spending our time making up these silly days … Oh wait. What’s that? Oh, it’s the other Craft Brewing Business editors telling me to sit down and shut up because — Breaking News! — Aug. 7 is International Beer Day.
What is International Beer Day? I’m glad you asked! As CBB‘s resident proponent of made-up holidays, International Beer Day is celebrated on the first Friday in August every year since its inception in 2007. It has grown from a small localized event in the western United States into a worldwide celebration spanning 207 cities, 50 countries and 6 continents. It’s purpose: To enjoy beer, salute the brewers and bring the whole world together through the love of suds. I’d say the event is catching, check out this report of International Beer Day from Manchester:
So crack open a cold one and maybe cruise the CBB Friday Fun archives. Then sound off in the comments below to tell us what beer you’re enjoying and send some shoutouts to the craft brewery that inspires your brews the most.
